Danny Dietrich Wins Opening Day; Feathers Claims Super Late Model Victory

Port Royal, PA - Saturday marked not only the opening day of the 2026 season at Port Royal Speedway, but also the opening race of the landmark new series: PA Posse 410 Sprint Cars. When the checkered flag waved, Danny Dietrich found himself in Kish Bank victory lane claiming the first wins for the track in 2026 and the new series.

The 25-lap A-main event saw Danny Dietrich and Matt Campbell composing the front row with Dietrich getting out to the early advantage and Chase Dietz jumping up to the runner up spot from third.

Dietrich and Dietz would set the pace for the field over the opening five laps before the red flag would wave due to a 2-car accident between Dylan Cisney and Nash Ely who got collected in turns one and two.

Turns one and two would prove to be challenging for many of the drivers as the surface offered a different kind of character than what most drivers are accustomed to at The Speed Palace.

Once the field took the green flag once again, it was Dietrich once again setting sail on the field with Dietz following not too far behind.

The A-main would stay green over the remaining 20 laps, and Dietz was able to cut Dietrich's lead down to as little as 0.5 seconds but could never fully close the gap.

Dietrich would go on to win and claim the $6,000 prize with Dietz in second and Matt Campbell rounding out the podium.

"It's pretty special," said Dietrich in victory lane describing winning the first PA Posse 410 Sprint Car Series race. "This thing was fast. Thanks to my guys for sticking with me."

Justin Whittall would claim the Ramsey Car Wash Hard Charger honors with a +10 effort going from his 22nd starting spot to 12th.

Kody Hartlaub would get the extra $1,000 Warrior Award from J&S Classics for having the 7 pill drawn in victory lane as he was the 7th place finisher.

In Penske Racing Shocks super late model competition, Trever Feathers would park his number 27 machine in Kish Bank victory lane after battling off a few different competitors through the 25 lap feature event.

Andrew Yoder and Roy Deese Jr. would start on the front row of the main event with Yoder taking the early advantage and Feathers would jump up from the 2nd row up the runner up spot in the opening corner.

Yoder would lead the opening five laps with Feathers tracking him down. Feathers would make his move for the lead on the back straightaway with 19 laps remaining.

Yoder would not go away easily though as he took the inside lane on Feathers in turns one and two but could not get the traction he was looking for to make a pass stick, and Feathers would run away with the lead momentarily.

The best battle for position would then shift to the second spot as Gregg Satterlee would challenge Yoder for position around the track before the caution flag would wave with 10 laps remaining.

Once the field restarted, Satterlee would take advantage of the Delaware double file start to claim the 2nd spot as Yoder tried to keep pace.

Feathers, Satterlee, and Yoder were all within a car length of each other battle for position when Yoder would lose the handle on his car, spinning around the ring, and causing a 7 car pile up in turn 4 before the lap could be completed.

After a lengthy stoppage to clean the wreckage, Satterlee would set his sights on Feathers to try and steal the Opening Day win from his grasp.

Feathers would jump back out on the restart and would change his lines through each corner to hold off Satterlee for the win, and make it his 3rd Opening Day win at Port Royal Speedway in his career.

Satterlee would go on to finish in the runner up spot and Dylan Yoder would round out the top 3.

Port Royal Speedway will be back in action on Saturday March 28th with Weikert's Livestock 410 sprint cars as a part of the PA Posse 410 Sprint Car Series and will be supported by the Penske Racing Shocks super late models.
